Had another great firing, no shutoffs, and good, if not great temp. 10 1/2 hours. All the work made it thru safely, but the clear was not totally clear, cuz I only got to cone 9 1/2.
Some real neat glaze effects on the neriage, and some lips.
The bottles are finally there.

Just finished Nelson- an immortal Memory. Very interesting to get the whole story on the saint of Trafaglar. He almost got washed out of the navy a couple of times, lost an eye, then an Arm. Makes you think about the cost of war in a more personal way. Tommy Franks lost a leg, I wonder?

Kiln results-- VERY GOOD!

I will regret this next time I fire, but the results were fabulasss. The upper part of the kiln did not fully reduce, or for that matter go to full cone 10, but the results look fully intentional!
I was also stoked that the kiln did not shut off, where other people have had it shut off like 20 times!

Kiln Fire Next Week

So, I didn't have a full kiln load, and will have to fire next week, which is good. I am too busy this week, and did not need to blow a whole day with a kiln. I am happy to report that I came up with a good idea for the plates, using the japanese kanji for peace as the symbol on the face of the plate.

Panhandling for fun and profit

Since the reign of King Gorge does not seem to be waning, I plan to write a book called
Panhandling for Fun and Profit.
It will have some funny stories, and sad facts about the state of the economy at the the local level.
One of the main differences between it and most books will be the multi regional aspect.

I let a couple of fix-it tickets go too long, and now I have to pay big bucks to get it rectified! This totally sucks, and there is probably no way for me to get out of it. So, where does all this money go? Probably to more meter readers, and more meters. I am going to be calling the Pothole hotline, and every other city service I can find. In my art class I am noticing that the process of just showing up, and doing the homework, is making me a better artist. It is when we are forced to do something every week, or even every month, that real growth happens. How do we do this as adults?
Volunteer efforts seem to be the best way if you don't have the time to go back to school. I have learned so much at the Sausal Creek restoration effort, here in Oaktown.

San Francisco Panhandlers

I heard in the mainstream press last month that there were no more panhandlers on the Streets of San Francisco,and I was worried. Well, it turns out that they are still there! We walked down Market, for like 8 blocks. There were at least two per block, and a couple of kids with weird make-up!!! Style is not yet dead in the city that knows how!!

I had a good jaunt in the City by the Bay, and was reminded that there is a lot of social work left to be done in the world. We are sending billions to war, and there are still lots of people on the street, looking for a way to survive. I think that we are getting closer to King's dream, but what have we done lately? I was surpised by how moving an oratator Gavin Newsome was at the rally. He hit all the right notes, and flowed with the crowd, while still staying on speech. I did not see him looking at notes, which was rare. Good use of the mic, and just a powerfull speaker. Wonder who will be his next bride?

I don't know about you, but it sure seems like we are a couple of disasters away from some serious Cyberpunk reality. We have someone in charge who doesn't have the compasion of a lemon, Tsunami's hitting multiple countries, and an economy on the brink of collapse.
Call me gullible, but where is the billions coming from.????? I like that we are putting some cash in Asia's pocket, and a signifigant amount is coming from donors like you and me. I kicked in 40 already. I was at a Poetry show, and the previous week they had sent in 400 dollars. These are poor urban poets, and you know you don't get any poorer than that!

Seems like it is going to be more of this biblical shit. Arnie is giving us the state of the State, where he wants to change everthing, right now. This means that some nasty shit, ala the self inflicted energy crisis, will be snuck in under the cover of a 152 page reform handout! I am glad that this will be in my permanant record, cause, like no-one ever believes me when I say "Hey, I thought of that a couple of years ago!"

I was thinking about Mike D's Breakout 1&2. It is a semi-released dvd, and has most of his lifes film work. Good flick, but to my point. There is the main character, who has a dream, and won't let it go, even in the face of a clear lack of talent and skills. How often do we do this, bieng in love with Julia, or Christina, or even Sandra? It is one of our greatest virtues, but can become a trap. Once you refuse some work, because it is beneath you, then where does it stop?
I am working on a couple of documentraies, and they seem to be going well. Now I am worried, and will have to cut out some of the interesting bits!

I know I am gullible, but this is ridiculous!! Upon review of the FM 3-19.40, a document published, and hopefully read by the military commanders of MP units I found the following as the beginning of chapter 7.

Chap 7
Internment and Resettlement
I/R consist of those measures necessary to guard,protect, and account for people that are captured, detained, confined or evacuated by US forces. In any military operation involving US forces, accountability and safe and humane treatment of detainees are essential. US policy demands that all persons who are captured, interned, evacuated, or held by US forces are treated humanely. This policy applies from the moment detainees become the responsibility of US force and continues until the time they are released or repartiated.

If I am not mistaken, when one gets the job of bieng the big warden, one would get this manual, and then maybe read the first page of each chapter to watch out for any future problems. Wouldn't you, or am I just being gullible?

Why did everyone focus on the fact that the Geneva Conventions had not been fully expained to these troops, but no one mentions that it goes against the MP manual?

So I was thinking about the problem of ignorance the other day, and tonight it was shown how dangarous it can be. When You are a highly trained Security Officer, one is often ignored, especially by the ignoramasus. I worried about a fight, and lo and behold, one happened. One of the people was known by me, and seemed like a good person, but he, or she snapped, and blood flowed.

If nice people can snap, what should we expect from warmongers?

I have some other predictions, here at work, but will anyone listen? I fully expect to hear, "Well, you got lucky, and it was due to happen sometime."

Is it in Haiti? Last I heard the thugs, war criminals, and big oil, were trying to kick out the leader, who was sent to a secret bunker, and run that country. Haven't heard a word lately.

Is there some outrage in Chechnya? Bomb the ruskies back to the soccer field. How is the oil pipline doing?

Hatchery fish may know where my outrage is, but they hid it on the person of the wild fish, in hopes that someone would go looking for them. I want to go get them, but I cannot afford the fees to trespass on my national park.
